FEATURED SPEAKERS:
COURAGE AND CREATIVITY – The Magic of Conviction: A conversation with SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL CO-FOUNDER & FILMMAKER CIRINA CATANIA
ALSO: ROB BESSETTE OF FINISH POST
We are excited to continue our Fall/Winter series at BOSCPUG with filmmaker Cirina Catania, who will share with us her creativity and community service and how, in Cirina’s own words, “Grab that camera, follow your instincts and start shooting. You don’t have to have big budgets and all the latest and greatest equipment to tell a good story with the tools at hand.”
“We all have gifts. How can we recognize what those gifts, what is our chosen purpose and how do we muster up the courage to pursue our dreams even when others are saying “no?” How can we make MAGIC in our lives? Now more than ever, in part because of new technologies, we have the ability to communicate our thoughts, ideas and stories and share them with others on a very broad scale. That is the ultimate reward, the highest purpose for our talent. Blackmagic Design has designed a line of cameras that have become a part of my life. They give me a voice. I trust in the technology and when I’m on the set, it becomes all about achieving my vision and sharing my passion with the people around me. I know they have my back and they are helping me to achieve success on all levels. What more could someone ask?”
Get over your Gear Fear! Cirina will talk about what you need to work creatively, courageously and efficiently in the field and get the best out of what you have. She’ll screen footage shot with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera from her films, show some tricks and tips and reveal how she has managed to “get good stuff” without breaking the bank. If you work or want to work in non-scripted, if you love documentaries, or if you just want to know more about what the networks expect you to know when they hire you, this is the meet for you.
Wounded hero turned athlete Kionte Storey from Cirina Catania’s forthcoming documentary
Cirina will screen footage shot with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera from her films, including her forthcoming documentary on wounded hero turned athlete Kionte Storey and discuss her process of filmmaking, share her experiences on the road in her work and advice for all filmmakers with projects that need pitching, marketing, distribution and building an audience.
Also! Colorist Rob Bessette of Finish Post will show a couple of Cirina’s clips “Before & After” being graded with DaVinci Resolve to show how important the eye of the colorist is for a director/shooter’s work.
We will allow plenty of time for questions – So bring your questions with you!
