Ross Shain from Imagineer Systems  will be presenting mocha, the Academy award-winning planar tracking and visual effect software. Ross Shain is the Chief Marketing Officer of Imagineer Systems and product designer of mocha. An award winning visual effects supervisor and finishing artist, he has worked on numerous music videos, commercials and feature films. In 2012, Ross was honored with a Science and Technology Academy Award for his participation in the design and development of mocha software. Prior to his role at Imagineer Systems, Ross held positions with Avid Technology, On2 Technologies, Northern Lights Post and taught at New York Universities CADA program.

Imagineer Systems develops of visual effects solutions for film, video and broadcast post production markets.  Imagineer Systems has made its mark on such marquee Hollywood blockbuster productions as The Hobbit, Gone Girl, The Amazing Spiderman, The Wolf of Wall Street, and the Harry Potter series.

Tim Montgomery, better known as Monty, is the Senior VFX Artist at Finish Post.  Monty has over a decade of experience working with clients such as Sam Adams, Liberty Mutual, Carnival, Bailey’s, Santander, McDonald’s, Keurig, and Acura. In addition, he has handled the VFX on films such as ‘Underwater Dreams‘ and most recently ‘The Chain.’  Monty’s suite is ready for any of your finishing needs and includes Flame and After Effects, a 13 foot screen, Barco cinema projector, 48 inch plasma, 5.1 surround and the ability to create encrypted DCPs.

Essays must be single page printed hard copy and turned in during the December 10 meeting – wait for them to be collected-

You need to attend the December 10 meeting to enter, if no qualified applicants apply and commit to the time and costs we may choose to not assign the pass-

Essay should have your full name, address, phone, email and other contact info should demonstrate – your experience, skill level, passion to take the Editors Retreat and clearly state your understanding, commitment to schedule the time, make the trip, and have the current ability to pay the room and board fees upfront, and your travel.

Please leave the opportunity to those who can cover the expense.

Jeff Greenberg will review the complete essays and choose the winner.

The Bright Lights screening and talk series is sponsored by the Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College.  The mission of the series is to provide engaging visual media related events to the Emerson College community as well as the wider Boston community. These events range from screening of student, faculty and alumni work to the work of local, national and international artists as well as demonstrations, lectures, discussions and presentations by industry professionals. Bright Lights seeks to create an environment where visual media is not only viewed and appreciated but where a dialogue is fostered and a community of media makers, academics and aficionados are engaged and supported.

All events are free and open to the public. Events take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening during the semester with the exception of occasions when the college is closed (such as holidays, spring break, inclement weather). BOSCPUG is proud to work with Emerson Visual and Media Arts to offer an evening of production and post-production conversation in the intimate and state of the art Bright Family 2K Screening Room at The Paramount Center at Emerson College.

Named for the family of Kevin Bright ’76, the Bright Family Screening Room seats approximately 200 people. It features the latest film and 2K digital video projection including 35mm and DCP playback. The dramatic double-height Gallery and Lobby connects to the Paramount Mainstage.
